How to play water sort
Each tube holds up to four layers of coloured water. Tap a tube to pick it up, then tap another tube to pour. You can only pour onto the same colour or into an empty tube, and only while there is room. When you pour, all matching layers on top move together as far as they fit. The level is complete when every tube is empty or filled with a single colour.
Levels get harder as you go: more colours and fewer spare tubes. Undo takes back a pour (it still counts as a move), Restart resets the level, + Tube adds one extra empty tube once per level, and Hint shows a pour from a working solution. On a computer you can press the number keys 1–9 to select tubes. Your level and best moves are saved on your device.
Every level is solvable
Each level is generated from a random seed and then checked by a solver in the game before it is used, so a solution always exists without the extra tube. The same level number always gives the same puzzle, which makes it easy to compare with friends.
Strategy tips
- Keep an empty tube free as long as you can; it is your most valuable space.
- Pour into matching colours first before using an empty tube.
- Finish nearly full tubes. A tube with three layers of one colour needs just one more.
- Look ahead. Before pouring, check which colour will be revealed underneath.
- Undo is free to use to explore; only the move count goes up.
